Welcome to all the new Arkansas members!

Tulip Girl, you are very close to me then too. What kinds of chickens are you raising?

lilbreeches, have you found any layers yet? If you do get time to take photos of your bantams, I'll help you to ID them.

Don't exactly know what they are, straight runs I got from attwoods on the 12th.The young girl told me they were Reds and Blacks!!!!!!!!Wanted to wait but my little eight year old went for baby chicks that day so we couldn't leave there with some kind of a chicken form. Got seven. Will be getting more from the coop in Malvern this coming Monday.Maybe I can put a name on them!

Tulip Girl, if you got them at Atwoods, they came from Ideal Poultry, and could be red and black sexlinks, or red and black broilers. Broilers are meat birds. If you told her (probably Robin if it was a young girl) that you wanted layers she probably sold you sex-links. Those are really good layers. I just bought one more black sexlink from her because the one BSL hen I have lays the nicest, biggest eggs of my whole bunch.

Tulip Girl, just wanted to mention to you too, that some of my best layers from Ideal have been my Barred Rocks and Rhode Island Reds, and they've all been good natured birds......just in case you buy more from there. All of my RIR's started laying very early. Two of them at about 17 weeks, and one at around 18 weeks.

If you get more, I'd also go ahead and shell out the extra dollar for pullets. I have a few too many roos right now, and now that they're approaching a year old, it's starting to cause problems.

I just wish they sold their bantams as pullets, but they only sell them as straight run. I just got 3 cute little white cochin chicks, 2 are frizzles, but I think only one is a girl! I'll just have to wait and see I guess.
