No matter how many times I talk to them and sing to them. - Wait - maybe that is my problem.

I have never had any that were real flighty. But we handle them quite a bit. When I was catching yours, my hubby was out there and asked if I needed a leg catch wire for them and I said no and reached in and they all came running over. He just shook his head and said guess not.

They love boiled eggs for treats. I haven't given them mealworms yet b/c I am waiting on my beetles to do their thing.

We always laugh and tell everyone that if they want something that is bombproof, to bring them here. We have a little of everything and you never know what is going on.

Amanda,

When I went to gather eggs today, I had 4 quail eggs and the 2 I got from you were sitting in the nest box. LOL Yours are different from my others. Yours faces are darker strips than mine.

My Cuckoo is that dark too. I think most are. They have more black than the Barred Rocks do.

I found Cuckoo Marans this morning at Atwoods in Arkadelphia.

They had 5 or 6 pullets, and I bought 2, so as of about 30 minutes ago, they still have a few if anyone is close by. They're not feather legged or I'd have bought them all.

I have the one Cuckoo already, so these will go into that run when they're older, and I'll try to find a good feather legged roo to put with them.

The Cuckoos don't lay nearly as dark an egg as most of the other Marans though, but they're pretty. I have feather legged Wheatens too, which lay a little darker egg, but not as dark as the Black Copper.
