Arkansas folks speak up.........

This morning her legs seem paralyzed. Her neck still works and she is eating, but she cannot move on her own. I think this is Marak's disease. I am going to disinfect the coop where she grew up before any more chicks go in. Can anyone tell me what you use to disinfect?

The wierd thing is, I woke up this morning and I can't turn my head to the left or lift anything with my left arm without pain. Can people catch chicken diseases? I'm not really serious, but I guess it might be possible.

Oh no Julie! That doesn't sound good at all. I saw your post over in another sick chicken thread and someone posted a link to common poultry diseases. Have you gone through that and found anything that sounds like her symptoms? I looked at it for a bit and saw one poultry disease (outside of avian flu) that was highly contageous to humans and other poultry alike. I certainly hope you just slept on your pillow wrong!

I'm so sorry to read that your pullet isn't doing any better. Yes, it does seem that these things happen most often to our favorites.

I thought she was doing better, but I checked after church... She was trembling all over and covered in poo. I won't give any more details. I had to go ahead and cull her.

Sorry for the downer everyone. I know these things happen. I just hate it so bad cause I really wanted Faverolles and now I have lost both my pullets. Thanks for the posts.
