Thanks. The thing I like best about them is that they come running like little puppies. If you don't sit down and pet them they'll just fly up to you! Sure wish I could find a few more.
I love when mine come running. It probably doesn't help that I give them bannanas, crickets, parakeet treats, diced apples, corn on the cob, and whatever else I can find. They're not spoiled or nothin'

That's the way to do it! You're a good chicken dad, lol!
I give mine all kinds of treats too, cantelope and watermelon rinds, tomatoes, corn, Collard stems and leaves, parts of peaches and apples the kids don't finish, homemade Kefir!
I stopped and picked up half of a big watermelon that had fallen from a truck the other day. Half was mush, but the chickens sure enjoyed the good half. I saw two this morning, but we were rushing for school and didn't have time to stop.....plus they were on an overpass!
That's almost as bad as me stooping to catch a grasshopper on the courthouse lawn! My brain finally kicked in and I asked myself...what'are you gonna do with that grasshopper? Stick it in your pocket and take it home to your chickens?! Ermmm....well that kinda was my intention.
Well I think I just took way too big a bite of MARANS. I bought a breeding program someone had in Boonville. We left here at 4:30 and did not get back until 11:45. My DH and I had to catch 28 chickens!! She had them in pens according to her breeding program and I thought I had marked the boxes in a way I would understand when I got home.
IDK what I am going to do now. We were up until 1am building temp pens for some of the Roos.
You would not believe the racket this morning. My roo, Razzle, is VERY upset. If anyone wants to see pics I put some up on FB. [email protected] She thru in some turkens and banty barred rocks. I thought I would sell the Bantys but they are way too cute. they are no bigger than pigeons and the little roo is so full of himself.
I am going to sellthe Turkens. I have 3 hens and a roo. She said they were laying.
I haven't been around for awhile, been trying to take care of my predator owl problem, kids started school, and I started school, so it has been hectic!
I'm still trying to downsize my birds. I have 4 guineas, 3 bronze turkeys, 1 Birchen Maran Cockerel(been told it is a silver birchen, but...), and 5 what I was told were some sort of Red Sex Link pullets.
The guineas are about 8 weeks old, the turkeys are 17 to 18 weeks old and need to go all togther, the birchen/silver birchen maran is 17 to 18 weeks, and the red pullets are 20-21 weeks...expecting eggs from them any day now. My Black Copper Marans will be laying by the end of September, hopefully sooner. I wish I had more time to spend with them right now!
If anyone is interested in anything I've got, PM me.
I also have Cuckoo Maran egg,s Blue OEGB eggs, quail eggs, and glory be I got my first Delaware egg today!
