Arkansas folks speak up.........

Jarhead, I would absolutly love a couple of EEs. This coop is gonna be pretty big. The city of Sherwood said I needed a permit to build a covered "fence". It was only 6 bucks and they said they didn't care what I was building it for, just as long as I abide by their codes.
Also, I having trouble following the link, when and where is this meet up gonna be? Is it opened to anyone?
VeryCherry Jelly Bellys are awesome, so are the Pears.

Jarhead, what colors are your Cochins....well, I should ask if any are females first, and if so, what colors are those?

I have too many males per female. I have three white Cochin hens and three white roosters! I could use a few more females.

I also have three black Cochin bantam chicks, 2 female and 1 male, so I could use a one or two more black females too.

Scot, these are bantams right? How much are they each? Oh, and how old are they? The chicks I have are at least a month old.

The cochins are mainly blue/black/splash. It's a little too early to decide who is a boy or girl yet. They are all standard size. As of right now none are up for sale, maybe when they are a little older and we can tell exactly who is who and what is what. All the EEs are standard size as well and a few are a little older. They are various colors just like the eggs they lay. Nikki when you first stared on BYC and on your chicken adventure we offered you a gift of a couple of birds to help get you started, that offer still stands so they will be $0 when you are ready.

Scot, you and your wife are good people!

If you can tell by the meetup if any one of the Cochins are black and female, and it's not one you're keeping, I'd love to buy one from you. I have a standard Partridge Cochin rooster, one hen, one young pullet, and possibly one more pullet...too young to tell for sure. My roo would appreciate another gf!

I feel so silly, I thought I had joined the meetup group....I didn't. So I just did. I will probably go to the Fayetteville show on the 7th because it's closer to me. Do you all ever have any meetups closer to up here (NW Ark)?
Just curious... I will try to make the next one - weather depending of course, but a good excuse to have a road trip !!!

Sherry,
We just try to live right

I will let you know if one of them looks like a little girl, I have always found with cochins it is a little hard to tell since those combs look the same for what seems like a long time. Most of the other breeds we have raised it is easier to tell earlier, but maybe that's just me thinking that. I would hate to get fooled and give you another boy by mistake.

Nikki,
Good luck working on the coop tonight, better get a move on - it's supposed to start raining again.

mzfancichicks - This is only the 3rd meetup we have had. Just put your input in over there on that site. I think they are trying to keep it moving around to give folks a chance to go, just make sure to voice your opinion on where future meeting should be. Amanda and Penny are looking for places for the group to meet in the future. I know they try to keep most of the meeting talk over there on that site, so if you guys have not signed up I would suggest it. The talk on that forum is picking up a bit too, I am checking it daily now as I do BYC.

If you think about it, scrap yards buy stuff at about $4 per hundred pounds --- and a little piece of chainlink is pretty darn cheap if you're paying by the pound!
Plus, it helps to be friends with the owners, but he's a great guy I'm pretty sure he swaps and barters with most anybody who wants to.
