Arkansas folks speak up.........

Well, how did the swap go for everyone that went today? I missed it had to work. My brother and dad attended and they brought home rabbits for themselves. Wished I could have been there, I so enjoy talking with other chicken folks.

Maybe I'll get to make the next meetup!

I did get to meet them!

On another note: Mark your calendars for the largest poultry and animal swap in Arkansas history...or so we hope! April 16, 2011. Location will be decided soon. It will be in central Arkansas near Little Rock!

Took my older kids today to see their Great-grandfather at the regional hospital. He had a knee replaced. Well thought I would be nice and dropped by a floor below to check on Jenscott's hubby. When I arrived he was talking to a nurse and giving her a recipe for CHICKEN and fish. I told the nurse that any chicken would do, except one of Jen's show birds. That is when he recognised who I was. I clean up good in a suit!

Sorry to have missed Jen, but her hubby was in good spirits, but a bit bored. He said Jen was due in about an hour. Seems she had abonded her precious husband to go home and feed the birds. Chose chickens over her hubby! Hope all goes well.

Well the doc that came through to see DH yesterday evening didn't like the sound, or lack of sound, in the bottoms of the lungs and did a chest xray. Looks like he has a pneumonia developing. They are going to be changing antibiotics and adding another. Temperature spiked back up to 101 yesterday evening. Looks like at least Wednesday before surgery. He told me there was no need in me running all the way up there today, I could stay home and take care of my chicken stuff today, so I better get a lot done.

On a chicken note, I've been getting some Japanese eggs, getting a few to hatch. Of course the ones I want the most are few and far between, and have not yet been fertile.

Here's a pic of my cinnamon Bobwhite quail

Hi Elias, as soon as I get some for me, I'll have extras I hope. I have Georgia Giants, but from a winter hatch, they may not lay this year, maybe later. I have some slatebelt giants or whatevr they call them, and they are big. They should lay this year. and then the cinnamons, I think they will lay this year. And some regular northern bobs.

my browns where sold to me off of ebay as Georgia Giants and butler bobwhites... but i was real disappointed in there size... they are no bigger than a normal bobwhite lol... so if i sell any it will be as regular brown's lol...

i have gone quail crazy lol... i sold/traded 120 or so at the meetup and still have over 100 adults... and about 100 young ones... and 200 eggs in the incubator... i hate to throw them out so i listed a few eggs on eBay... if any one from Arkansas buys them ill give them a lot of extra eggs...

Doing great, a little skittish tough. They also picked up some Californian rabbits, from someone, not sure who.
