In Monticello we have .9" so far. But it is snowing very heavy! And has been snowing heavy steadily since 10am. We filled all teh feeders this morning and gave EVERYTHING baby chick vitamin water. We have a gallon of solution in the fridge we made for a bird that got a cold. Don't want to waste it. One once of solution per gallon of water.

Julie, sorry to hear about your hen. I have a brand new hatch with a oegb pullet in it if you're interested, she's a blue red, but like most she'll mostly be cream/beige/brown. I know its not the same as having her, but they're so much fun to spoil while they're little!

I simply no longer like hawks......one sits and stares at my coops and runs and usually the crows come chase it down...if not I have to target shoot at a can on my tree stump.

We took the plunge and bought a netting for all the runs. It works like a charm. I know that not everyone can do this. We built our pens with the netting in mind.

This is it 2 years ago. It survived the snow load.

Does anyone have any show quality OEGB pullets or hens? We want some for our boy to show. These roos make me so nervous. I'm afraid their sickle feathers are going to break. Its all I can think about.

1.4" snow in Monticello now! Ducks are loving it!

I'd guestimate we got 7-8" out where my chickens live (4 miles from my house, very edge of the city)
I put on chains to go water them. Only took about an hour and a half to get my truck ready and make the trip

The hardest part was getting back into the driveway (sharp turn and hill, plus a stump and DH's truck to avoid hitting)

I was gonna get a "prettier" picture, but my hands were too cold.

We're up to about 6" of snow, so far. The cops are closing roads EVERYWHERE!
