Arkansas folks speak up.........

Hi BoSox, welcome to BYC and to the Arkansas thread.

With the help of Jim, my incubator has more eggs, but I wouldn't call it full yet. Besides, I have another in the living room that is empty.

A funny thing happened to me at TSC yesterday. I was looking at a bin full of chicks. The label said, "Black Wyandottes". There were several different breeds in it. I pointed to some of them and told the TSC guy, "Those are Barred Rocks." He looked puzzled and said, "Mardi Gras??"

At least TSC keeps their chick bins clean and there weren't way too many chicks per bin like at Atwoods.

Jen, do you have any extra bantams for sale right now? I know someone looking for some.

Yes, they are from Dick Horstman's line. He saw them at a show and said they were very nice quality. I am hatching more this Spring and will have some for sale later this year, probably.

Thanks for the reply. Right now i'm in the OEGB's. I'm thinking about getting a different breed in case these OEGB are to hard to produce and the comp. is tough. I catch myself looking at the barred birds.

Hi,
we are thinking about adding some chicks to our family!! Looking for some good info on breeds and care. Thinking about a coop pen combo. 12x8? Anyone have suggestions on what breed for a friendly, good egglayer that's kinda rare and pretty colorful? Lol!

I thinking maybe mix it up with a few different breeds- or will they fight? . (Of coarse AR weather hardy)

I always liked the thought of getting one breed but with different colors. Plymouth Rocks-- barred rocks, white rocks, etc..

Right now I have some blue red oegb cockerel chicks, some long legged japanese chicks and I guess that's about it right now.

PS: Where'd that platinum thingy come from?
