You might check with a tatoo artist. They may know how to get ink and stuff off your hands.

Glad to see you getting your store opened up. When I was there a few weeks ago Jen had all sorts of old fashioned toys they will be selling. We have to go to Little Rock in the morning, but will try to drop by one day this week.

Best wishes with your new store, jenjscott!

As far as the blue kote staining your hands, try using some baby oil...might sound silly but it's the only thing I know that will get indelible magic marker/Sharpie off the skin.

I am soooo ready for winter! We hit 112.5F in the shade today and I don't want to know what the heat index was! Supposed to be another doozy tomorrow, too!

Keep cool all!

Hey would anyone like to have a get together sometime and bring chickens and eggs to sell and trade? Please let me know like locations, and I will do the research for that location. It would be a great way to meet each other here in Arkansas and I am sure we all have some chicken we would like to sell or trade. Oh and possible dates. I know it is incredibly hot but I think it will slowly start cooling down. I don't know if most of us have children don't have young ones. I f you want to do this on a weekday or weekend. I am totally game! Please send your suggestions.

We're at 2150' here in Newton co. and the highest temps until Monday had been the mid 90s and that not but a 3 or 4 times Monday teased the 100 mark and yesterday hit 103!!! Fall can't come too soon! We're trying to finish our coop, but it's waaaaay too hot. Sure do feel for those who have been suffering the 100 temps all along.

In Drew County/Monticello it has been around 102-109 everyday. Went to Little Rock yesterday. At about 4:00 near Col Glen (TSC store) it was 109...then 108...temps dropped to 95 withinh a minute. It started raining. For about a mile it rained and dropped to 95. Then by the time we took the Col Glen exit it was 109 again. We did not even get to enjoy the "cool" temps. Since it was so hot out, we stayed inside Playtime Pizza a liitle longer than we originally wanted to. This was our second (and last) trip to Playtime Pizza. Pizza stinks. There was no potato bar, again. Its just not that good of food and the games etc are just not that enjoyable. We will try the zoo on our next family outing to Little Rock. This time was payment for three birthdays from Feb, March and July. We are paid up now and have made it clear, no more Playtime Pizza.

Anyone wanting to go to Crossroads? We have an 8 passenger van that we are taking to Indianapolis, Indiana. We will be leaving the Monticello, Arkansas area very early on Thursday morning of the show and will be in Little Rock two hours later. Then on to near Memphis, Sikeston, MO, Mt Vernon, IL, Effingham, IL and Terra Haut, IN. Cost for fuel would be $100 per person. We suggest snacks and drinks so we do not have to stop as often. Obviously we will stop for beaks and meals. Departure time will be decided later. There will be two of us (Catherine and myself). We have room for 6 more and your birds. We will be pulling a trailer for luggage and our birds. It would be best to pack light so we have more room for birds.

We will also be available to transport birds for folks that can not attend. We will need a copy of the entry forms, NPIP etc for each bird we transport along with written permission for us to transport to and from Crossroads and it should be written on the entry form prior to mailing it to Crossroads. We will transport and care for your Crossroads entries for just $5 per bird. Entry fee is $3. So for just $8 per bird you can compete at Crossroads even if you can not attend. Space is limited, so please hurry and contact us.

I have started a new thread just for our trip at https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=7080117#p7080117

There is a large group of us that get together often at Brown's Restraunt in Benton and at the Poultry Shows. Will let you know on this thread when we have our next meetup.
