I'm from Arkansas! Grew up in Rogers (Fayetteville area). I've been living in California but am moving back in about 2 1/2 weeks. Anybody else from NWAR? Where do you buy your chickens?
Welcome back to AR. from the River Valley!!

NWAR, sorry: Northwest Arkansas. It's a common abbreviation for us, but I should have guessed no one else would know I was talking about!

No specific breeds. We are looking for good egg layers. Maybe a breed that is good for first-timers. Also, friendly. :)
The listed thread above ( I tried to copy but couldn't do it) has a good variety of folks listing locally. I just posted a Araucana Cockrel on there and I am headed to Fayetteville in a couple of weeks. There are usually people who don't mind driving a little to drop off or pick up, you just have to ask the question. Good luck in locating what you want

Anyone know the date and where to get forms for montecello fair livestock show?

The tabloid for the Drew County Fair is available from http://mymonticellonews.net/ The Advance-Monticelloian newspaper office only. Some information is available at http://www.monticellolive.com/drew-county-fair-schedule/ However, entries are open to the residents of Drew County only. To be honest, this fair is a huge joke. They removed the only word of wisdom concerning poultry last year. Now the illerate county extension agent runs the show. The last 3 years it was held under a fireworks tent. A tornado destroyed the old barn in 2009. A new barn was to be built this year, but the board delayed so much by being lazy that FEMA did not respond until too late to build the barn for this year's fair. Now FEMA has declined the funds to replace the coops and panels. Had the fair board requested the funds 2 years ago we would have a new barn, plus coops and panels. Oh, they did not advertise for open bidding on the new building. A violation of law. Hope this helps.

Now the Pine Bluff District Fair is an Open Poultry Show. Contact Lewis Hinkle [email protected] to get an entry form by email. Single birds are $1.50 . . . . double coops are $3.00 . . . . Poultry Chain Pens are $3.00. The entry deadline is Wednesday, September 19. Judges will be Jim Crain and Jacob Bates.
