Due to some health issues late last fall (which turned out to be, of all things, food allergies!! To their normal chow!!! ), I had a baby in the house over winter. Being.... me, I decided may as well train the lady while she's in my space.

So, she learned the normal commands (there are nine or ten of them) and then... I wanted.... more. I've never had a bird that would put their train up on command.

Now I have one!

How do you train them to do that? Do you wait for them to raise the tail on their own and mark it with a command to form the association, or do you give them the command and gently raise their tail?

I waited for her to raise her train, then I would repeat the command over and over with a hand command, and she would get a treat (a mealworm). She kinda has to be in the mood for listening to me, but that's how it is with most pets I think.

That is awesome. If I get any babies to hatch from your eggs I’m definitely going to try that. To bad it wouldn’t work for the boys.

Why wouldn't it work for the boys? They show their trains off as babies too

Don’t wanna make them to friendly and have them become aggressive during breeding season
