Due to some health issues late last fall (which turned out to be, of all things, food allergies!! To their normal chow!!! :barnie), I had a baby in the house over winter. Being.... me, I decided may as well train the lady while she's in my space.

So, she learned the normal commands (there are nine or ten of them) and then... I wanted.... more. I've never had a bird that would put their train up on command.

Now I have one!

Nice!
How do you train them to do that? Do you wait for them to raise the tail on their own and mark it with a command to form the association, or do you give them the command and gently raise their tail?

I waited for her to raise her train, then I would repeat the command over and over with a hand command, and she would get a treat (a mealworm). She kinda has to be in the mood for listening to me, but that's how it is with most pets I think.

That is awesome. If I get any babies to hatch from your eggs I’m definitely going to try that. To bad it wouldn’t work for the boys.
