I have done it and it is fairly simple. If the roo doesnt cooperate the first try, then you are supposed to put him back and dont try until the next day, so he doesnt get stressed out. Also, I was told to house the roo seperate from all birds during the breeding season to raise fertility. Because even arguing with other roos can lower the fertility rate. I didnt have to turn my roo upside down either. And I too had tried clipping the bottom feathers with no success (just too much fluff). Also, collecting in a plastic throw away spoon is just as effective, and it can be taped to a nearby table or stand, leaving your hands free to hold the bird.
