Artificial Insemination....

For cochins and silkies there is just too much feathering for them to properly inseminate on their own. And I for one just love these birds and see nothing wrong with doing AI on them to perpetuate the line/breed. The fluffier ones are the ones I would want to keep, whereas the not so fluffy ones I would not want in my breeding program.
 
Just the thread I was after :D I've been thinking of doing this for a while..... Just in regard to fertalizing the female once the semen has been collected, is it better to go straight into the oviduct? or just drop on the outside of the cloaca? I tried today with one of my malay roo's and got a lot from him first time, but when I dropped it onto the hens vent she didn't suck it up, it just dribbled off? I'm sure some must have got in though?
