Hi, I am an artist, and stay home in my studio most days. ( I paint oil landscapes and portraits of animals and people) I am new to the forum and decided to join because every time I need an answer it seems like this page pops up. I currently have 5 grown chickens and 8 baby chicks. I have owned chickens for 20 years and never really paid a lot of mind to the breeds because I would get them at the local Tractor Supply and most of the times the labels were missing. Now that all my kids have grown up I finally found myself wanting to try different breeds and obtain a basket full of every egg color you can imagine. I am afraid I am turning into a really artsy chicken lady. I hope I will be a helpful member of this forum- The image is a painting I did of my Boxer dog Solomon, who killed many of my chickens in his puppy days, but has now learned to love the chickens- However, he always comes to tell on them when they eat his dog food.

Welcome to BYC! Glad your dog doesn't bother your chickens anymore, funny he tattles on them!! 😂
Happy to have you join us!
Yep, I let the chickens out of the coop and they race up the hill to the dog bowl as he races right beside them. Then, when they all arrive by the bowl - he catches my eye- and gives me a stare, looks over at the chicken who is eating his food- looks back at me- like... " ah, are you seeing this?"
