as seen on tv Eggies

I thought about getting theses but after reading reviews on amazon I didn't. People said they were hard to clean and that it was hard to get the raw egg into the eggie without making a mess. If this is not true, I'd be curious to use them, but since I've started the icewater soak after boiling my fresh eggs, I haven't had a problem peeling eggs. Still, I love kitchen gadgets.

Those reviews are the experience I had. You have to spray or oil them so the egg doesn't stick. One of mine came apart in the pan. Maybe I should have tried a few more times, but they sure aren't like they commercial makes them seem. Needless to say, they usually just sit in the cupboard.

I saw these at Walmart in the As Seen On TV section of the store, and stopped to take a look at them. They looked like a huge waste of money, I wouldn't take them if they were giving them away for free because I know I would end up tossing them in the trash. As you said about the ice water bath, the eggs almost peel themselves...why fix it if it aint broke.

Now I WOULD get a Hello Kitty egg mold! if I could get on amazon when my hubby wasn't looking . . . . there are all sorts of egg molds out there. You snap a hard boiled egg into this plastic form and leave it overnite and it reshapes your egg into the shape of the mold. There are cars, fish, cow and pig faces, and of course, HELLO KITTY!.

And even tho the molds are plastic, the egg doesn't need to be heated in it. Much cooler than the eggie shape.

But hubby hates HK and I'm trying to be cost concious and thrifty . . . And I don't want to get him fired cause of the snappy comeback he will be obligated to make when the guys harass him after seeing Hello Kitty in his lunch
