Ascites Draining

Pics
The quail is alive and active. Not much leg use though. I made a thread in the quail section. Either tomorrow or the next day I can try that, I doubt it would hurt her. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/no-leg-use-in-quail.1505289/

So for this draining, how far away should I be from the old needle mark. She is still a mild puffy and a little green/brown like a bruise.

Sorry the quality of life for this quail has been poor. My view it’s time to put the poor thing down.
Jumping in on that last page or so??
This thread is for a Chicken Hen. The Quail is an "add on". She started a thread about the Quail - link above:)

Oh, so I was reading about vitamin c and brewers yeast can help with ascites. Can you tell me the dosage of brewers yeast? I was advised to give 25 mg of the vitamin c I have. I will attach pictures of the two things

B complex is easier to use than Brewers Yeast. Super B complex usually has vitamin C as well. Dosage of that is 1/4 tablet daily crushed in a small amount of food or water, or given orally. There is no drug that will reverse the ascites. It is eventually fatal.

I have B50 complex so I’m guessing it doesn’t have vitamin C?
And Merry Christmas, thank you for all of the help😊

Well, dev has been developing a breast blister for awhile now. The scab came off but the feathers around it got stuck in the new scab but that was a few weeks ago. It has been looking puffy the past week with some white around it and I could guess she had pus in it. For the past 3 nights whenever I squeeze it, she has pus coming out. It’s not a lot, well besides the first time, now it’s barely any. It’s white and very runny. Ever since she developed the scab, I have been cleaning it and putting neosporin on it. Am I doing everything I can? I remember when someone, I believe casportpony, did the procedure on a breast blister and got a bunch of stuff out but it doesn’t seem like this is that bad, just a little pus comes out. Not the best pictures but it is hard to do it upside

Ok so last night I noticed my ascites hens lower abdomen, on her right side, has turned yellow and a little red. I tried to take pictures of it. What can this indicate?
I am ready to drain but I don’t think she’s ready. She still has a small jiggle. I am not waiting for her abdomen to fill up so much that it can’t move but she has room to fill up more. Here in Florida it has been nice weather, 60s for some days. She has not been panting unless I stress her out :)

The yellow maybe from her liver problem and ascites or from bruising turning from green to yellow, but hard to know for sure. Have you tried giving a small amount of cooked rice and buttermilk? Cottage cheese in a small amount may work as well.

No I haven’t. I dont have buttermilk or cottage cheese but I can get cooked rice ready for her. What does it do?
