Ascites Draining

@azygous @Eggcessive @Wyorp Rock @casportpony @Kiki .. I don’t know what to do. It sounds like she has a lot of fluid in her lungs, she can’t get a single breathe in without gurgling.

I don't know what else you can do but let her rest and see if the breathing improves.
With Ascites, it can absolutely affect the breathing like this.
Sadly, it doesn't sound very good.

Even if I drained her today? If there is no liquid pushing up against her lungs what could cause this?

Even if you drained fluid you're not going to get it all - nor should you drain all at one time, so yes, even with draining a hen can still have respiratory distress.

But if it has lessened shouldn’t it stop putting so much pressure on her?

And I did drain quite a bit.
And I can’t think straight... are you saying that the fluid is still pushing up on her lungs?

I’m still trying to figure this out... so shouldn’t she be panting not gurgling if there is pressure on the lungs? Doesn’t gurgling mean liquid in lungs?
