Asil cockerel attacked by hawk, internal injuries

It took 24 hours but he snapped out of it. He ate 2 boiled eggs, a cup of wet feed, and now he is running around with the other chickens like nothing ever happened.

Why was his mouth full of blood yesterday?? His beak isn't cracked or injured, I saw him eating dry crumble and pecking at gravel. Maybe he bit his tongue when the hawk knocked him over.

Sometimes when things happen to roosters they can cut the skin right at the edge of the beak and the blood will run into their mouth or like you said tongue, or issue in his mouth.

thank you, when I saw blood coming from his mouth, I thought the hawk must of grabbed him and crushed him like a grape. I had never seen that kind of injury before and it was alarming.

Here he is today with his brother! Can you believe they are still best friends??
