Has anyone ever crossed the large asil fowl (large india game with a lot of body/meat/) over or under the cornish cross like you can buy from hatcheries (the ones in the broiler/fryer houses) to produce broilers or fryers ????
using either the asil or cornishx roosters - or - the hens of asils or cornishx hens ????
I hope this question is understandable ............

No.. but I have ALWAYS thought it would be a very great project for someone to do. I mean just think about it. Asils can live off the land if given to the choice.. now cross that to a cornish and you have a completely self sufficient chicken!

I hadn't thought about this cross at all- it's intriguing. I don't have any Asil fowls though. But I am planning to cross a Freedom Ranger roo with some Dark cornish x hens to see if I get a better free ranging meat bird.

The asil has a great body mass/meat and are like prehistoric creatures , self sufficient and it seems to me would make a great meat bird crossed with the modern day broiler/fryer cornish X types .
Hope you luck with your cross , it should be an improvement !!
