So I bless you, all the friends in far away countries, in a good, happy and sweet year! May the ALL MIGHTY send you health, Hapines and livelihood in abundance !
we have a traditional ceremony before the feast meal, this ceremony includes some dishes that every one have a meaning and it's a sign for the coming new year, and I am in the middle of the preparation.

We have many tips of fresh dats here, it is totally different in taste, it is like the difference between grapes and raisins.
My favorite are the moist Madjhul dats, wonderful with Greek yogurt.

And I also use Silan a pure dates syrop in many dishes, chicken ties with Silan mustard and tarragon baked in medium heat, are wonderful!

we have huge date farms here in California.... and I love Madjhul dates. but I have NEVER seen fresh... in the stores.

Cochella valley is home to huge date farms They take alot of water though We have them here in San Diego too... smaller farms because Avocado is our main crop... The land is more rocky.... Big Rocks Avocados love that.

I just saw a few videos on Date palms. They would definately grow in my area...

Of course San Diego is a Mediterranean climate so just about everything will grow here... Mangos, Bananas, passion fruit, Almonds

just about all the fruits that most people grow that dont require a freeze will grow here... Some Apples and peaches and apricots Cherries.

Some varieties of berries Even one type of Blueberry

but Strawberries are another big crop for San Diego...

You must know that palms are Dioecious trees, do you need a female and a male trees (I think the ratio is 1/15 male /female ) if you want to plant them.
