Hi,
My friend has some white broad-breasted poults, about 8 wks-old.
They are a couple of months old. Some have a "bump" above their beak.
Is this an indication of sex? If so, what does it mean to have one?
Thanks,
Carrie Lynn

The presence of the bump (called a snood) does not indicate sex. However, the size of the snood is one of the indicators. At about 10 to 12 weeks, the male snoods will start elongating and hanging down over the beak. Males will also developed bigger caruncles (bumps on the neck). IF you posted a picture, you will get several replies as to what sex people think it is.

Thank you for your reply.
