Don't know what to do about this.
Our backyard chicken run is partially covered by the cool shade of three aspens and one maple tree. The girls LOVE hanging out under the trees, specially during the summer months. Well, the problem is that during this hot months, the aspens get this little bug that make the leafs bleed this sticky sap, and yesterday, i was holding one of our Barred rock girls and noticed that her feathers where pretty sticky from laying under the trees' sapp-y mist.
Maybe there's nothing wrong with this, but maybe I need to treat the aspens; in which case, i would need to relocate the hens for a period of time. Bummer.
The trees have been dealing with this since we bought this house, and it only lasts trough the summer. I doesn't seem to hurt the trees, but I'm concerned about the chickens.
Ideas? Help? Moral support?
Thx,
Bryan
