Assisted Hatching - Hen Squashed Egg (GRAPHIC PHOTO)

Keep us updated, please! Hope he/she will pull through!!

I've manage to coax her/him into drinking a bit of homemade electrolyte water and eat a little bit of egg yolk. Still very weak, but its starting to try and move a bit and stand - just doesn't have enough energy to lift its head so we have a ways to go yet. I hope it makes it too!

The little chick is still fighting. He/she is very vocal when picked up, but still no progress with being able to hold his head up and opening his eyes.

Update: After a very very slow and painful day of hardly any progress, it seems like all the TLC is finally paying off. The chick had its first poop half an hour ago and is now starting to lift its head and crack open its eyes a little - more than it has done all day. We're not out of the woods yet, but these little steps are super promising!

Update: The chick has improved by leaps and bounds in the hours before midnight and was insistent on joining his/her siblings under the brooder - I was worried s/he would get stuck and overheat trying to get out of the bowl as it was struggling so much to get to the other chicks. It now holds its head up and walks around (albeit wobbly). With the grace of a freshly hatched chick in the incubator. :) Hopefully come the morning it will be almost back to normal. Things are looking up for this little fella <3

For now, it is snuggled in tight with its siblings, head poking out from underneath the brooder :)

Update! We are now approaching the two week mark and this little guy is thriving (though still half the size of his/her siblings). So happy this story has turned out so positively.

After the last update, this chick's abdomen opened back up, he got an infection, had eye problems for a day, and didn't eat on his/her own until over a week old. However, s/he then turned a corner and became a completely different bird.

Here is the little chick this evening with a very full crop!
