So i had an egg pip on the 26th day. I let it go for over 24 hours and he shown no
Progress. I was given advice to assist it. However when I cracked the shell and started to peel the membrane it started to bleed. I immediately stopped and left it in the incubator. This is today…. He’s still moving fine. What’s everyone’s opinion?

Why did you remove so much of the shell?
This is not how you should assist. Here is the Assisted hatching article which shows the correct method of assisting.

So firstly, what kind of egg is it? Chicken? Duck?
24 hours after external pip isn't too bad, but even when assisting you must be very slow and take lots of breaks. How long since you assisted?

There is so much membrane exposed and it looks dry. Have you moistened it at all? Brush some coconut oil or vaseline over all the exposed membrane. Then take another photo so we can look for veins.

Do you have a calibrated thermometer and hygrometer?

It’s a chick. I wasn’t expecting that much
Of the shell to come off. I had no intention to take that much off. It came off kind of at one time. It was unexpected actually. Now I feel bad and don’t know what to do.

Don't feel bad, accidents happen. Just try and focus on the next step- moisten the membrane using coconut oil or vaseline if you have any, then once you can see any veins, send an updated photo so we can see

I used Vaseline. He’s still very active inside.

Good job, keep an eye on that membrane, you may need to moisten it again if it dries out. That's good news that he's active.
Is he making any chewing or yawning motions with his beak? This would indicate that he's still absorbing yolk.
Also how long ago roughly did you begin the assist?

I'll be off to sleep soon, so I'm going to call in reinforcements, she's got a lot of assisted hatching experience and may be able to help with your chick. Aside from slightly differing timelines (for chicks compared to ducks) it's essentially the same kind of rules.

I tried to assist last night. It’s also still yawning and doing chewing motion.

How long who did you see the blood ?
If it’s been more then 4 hours I would try to remove the membrane around his face and head area
Be ready in case there is blood but it’s hard to see in your pictures as the outer membrane blocks the inner where the veins are
It was last night when I saw the blood.
