My newest batch is a week old now. 14 little Cochins in a variety of colors. I got them from ideal poultry. First time ordering from them, and the hatchery’s choice doesn’t guarantee a variety of colors, but I certainly think I got a good variety anyway.

Wanna help me guess at what colors they’ll be?

Right now I think I see;
2 partridge,
3 black,
3 ‘self’ blue (lighter grey)
2 blue (darker grey
3 white

And 1 more white? Little weirdo with the grey body but white feathers. Reminds me of a light Brahma almost.

Think I got just about every color of Cochin the hatchery offers. Just missing a buff!

The ones you're calling white could also be splash, a byproduct of blue genetics when two blues are crossed together. Time will tell on that.

The ones you're calling Partridges could be Birchen if their wing feathers are silvery rather than gold. It's difficult to tell. Black is not the right down color for Partridges, but who knows with hatcheries?

Let’s see with some clearer pictures. Got pooped on a couple times for this impromptu photo shoot but worth it.

So many little details I missed earlier, like #4’s little eye makeup. Wonder if that’ll stick around in adulthood, it’s really cute.

1 and 2 are partridge-- they looked black in the previous photos, but in these ones they look right for partridge.

3, 4, 5, 6 probably are white. I'm seeing no blue on the feathers. Time will tell if that develops later-- it would mean they are splash instead of white, if it happens.

7, 8, 9 self blue

10, 11 regular blue

12, 13, 14 black

It's amazing how different they look in the new photos.
