At a loss for what this hen is!

Lomine, my thoughts exactly lol what feed store chick would be rare? I mean next time I'm out in the pen I'm going to tell her that though :) It is her black comb and such that really threw me off. In any case, I sure like the way she looks too. I might name her Puzzle because she truly is.

All the Asia Black chickens I see images and descriptions are with a red comb so not sure about that but the white down her front does match that bird.

A black comb can simply be from a inherited Fm gene , not that uncommon in black based birds, although seen mostly in silkies.

I'm a duck girl, so no clue.....but, man, is she ever gorgeous! I'm so in love with my Cayuga I had googled black chickens bc you never know when you're gonna branch out with fowl

. The Ayam Cemani had that gorgeous beetle sheen under the sun...how fun to have the possibility of a rare mix in your bunch! From TSC, no less! Enjoy her, she's absolutely lovely.
Thank you, I think she is lovely too. :) Cayuga ducks are so awesome (all I have are Pekins).

Asian black. Not all black skinned birds are the rare new breeds. She's way too heavy to be an Ayam Cemani.
I didn't think she would be an Ayam Cemani at all but after doing a lot of research for the Asian black I would agree also! Thanks to all for all the help--I truly appreciate it.

So I just noticed today that Puzzle has five toes, but on the one foot the fifth toe is fused together like it never separated. I feel bad that I just never noticed that before now. She was in my lap and we were hanging out together and that's when I noticed. Poor little mutt bird! Just thought that was interesting. Whatever mix she is, she is so very nice. She has really come into her own in the yard and is never bossy (like my barred rocks), but not a pushover either (like my SF). I wish she would start laying though!
