I love that response! I am hoping she was just having a bad day or something. Still though, my feelings were hurt as I didn't expect that attitude from her.

My DH sometimes lurks on here at night when he can't sleep. Well last night was one of those nights. First thing this morning he asked me why I didn't tell him what she said. I explained that it upset me and I didn't feel like discussing it until I mentioned it on here yesterday. He said if he would have heard her say it he would have told her how much work I do and how little "sitting" is involved in my day.

He always defends me when someone assumes I don't do anything because i don't have a "job". He provides so I can stay at home and in turn I do as much as I can. It works out great.

Justmeandtheflock I can't explain the image I got when she said that. Because that is the first thing I thought...,how? ...OW!

I'm not surprised at all. I can't believe all the ignorant things I've heard in the last month! Like you can't pressure wash a deck! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Yup! Homeschooling is the way to go! Your kids may actually learn something!

Yes we do have some that should have chosen other professions, just as we have parents that should have been sterilized at birth. It just upsets me to come on, read a cute story, and the next thing you see is everyone going on about how ignorant teachers are, how if you homeschool your child they might actually learn something. That is insulting to me and to a lot of teachers on here that I have corresponded with. I homeschooled my son, I'm qualified to do it too, and judging by the responses, the spelling, the grammar, the sentence structure, not many on here are qualified to do it and yet they are doing it. That is more frightening than a teacher who isn't familiar with the fertilization of eggs. Now if a biology teacher isn't familiar with it, that would be scary.
I feel badly about hijacking a thread, but the OP posted a cute story that would have been entertaining if it had not taken a bad turn. I've gotten emails from several teachers on here saying "Here we go again, everyone has a bad teacher story coming".

I, on the other hand, have a wonderful teacher story coming. In Jr. high school, I had an English teacher named Mrs. Robbins. She was a wonderful, caring teacher who made learning an adventure. On Jan. 1, 1973, my face got badly burned in a freak accident. My face was bandaged (think of the old Mummy movies), my eyelashes were melted, and my lips were cracked. I was home for a couple of weeks. When the bandages came off, my skin was cracked and curled up like the mud that is left when a shallow puddle dries up. The doctor released me to go back to school, and I was absolutely terrified. I was NOT popular, and just knew I'd be the butt of jokes from the moment I set foot in the door. On my first day back, I was astonished that NOT ONE smart remark was made, and only once or twice did I even find anyone sneak more than a tiny glance my direction. I didn't find out until much later that on the day before I came back, Mrs. Robbins asked the principal to schedule a full-school assembly. She told the entire school what had happened and warned every student that if there was so much as a single snicker, comment, or stare, they WOULD BE dealing with her. (You'd have to have known Mrs. Robbins to fully realize what this meant!) That's just one more reason why I loved this dear lady. I am thankful for every teacher I've ever had (yes, admittedly some more so than others), and if I could, I'd give all you teachers on here that have to put up with all you do, a big bouquet and my heartfelt thanks for your sacrifices.

(and if you're wondering, I only have a tiny scar above one eyebrow and one tiny spot on my neck, Thank you Jesus!)
