This was the giggle I needed this morning!
I have found that most of the time, when people are condescending or purposefully uncouth, it's because they are trying to make you doubt yourself.
They instill doubt into others because they either lack knowledge or experience.
And... next time she asks if you're still sitting around the house, reply, "Yeah, you should try it sometime. Then you could relax and have an intelligent conversation with me. I'll be happy to explain anything you want to know about chickens so you won't be confused next time."
I love that response! I am hoping she was just having a bad day or something. Still though, my feelings were hurt as I didn't expect that attitude from her.
My DH sometimes lurks on here at night when he can't sleep. Well last night was one of those nights. First thing this morning he asked me why I didn't tell him what she said. I explained that it upset me and I didn't feel like discussing it until I mentioned it on here yesterday. He said if he would have heard her say it he would have told her how much work I do and how little "sitting" is involved in my day.
He always defends me when someone assumes I don't do anything because i don't have a "job". He provides so I can stay at home and in turn I do as much as I can. It works out great.
Justmeandtheflock I can't explain the image I got when she said that. Because that is the first thing I thought...,how? ...OW!
