At Long Last our "A' Frame Coop!

Here we go from start to finish! Took us roughly 4 weekends together, a lot of trips to HD and the feed store. Thanks to everyone on BYC who has posted anything informative to help with coop building, maintenance, security, bird health, etc., etc., etc.

The coop sits on buried hardware cloth, stepping stones with 3" of pine shavings, oyster shell powder. PDZ & DE to be added when it comes in at the feed store next week.

The girls also have a "play pen" for foraging in the grass that we move around. They seem to really like their new coop. Their still learning about going to bed at night but they understand what the ramp and door are for, LOL.

I'm simply loving having my chickens and I am absolutely indebted to my DH for all his guidance and hard work on the coop and play pen. He is one wonderful guy and I am a lucky gal!

Without further delay, I present to you "Coop de Clucks Chalet" starring Mildred, Mabel & Pearl! Enjoy!

A whole new world to explore in their coop.

Homer Depot, the only dude in the brood! LOL

For sweet dreams.

And happy egg laying days.

Wow, Donna Lynn, very, very nice! Your hubby has blessed you and your girls will bless him back with delicious eggs.

Wanted to send you a pic of my recently-installed poop board with roost above and all 19 (girls and 1 guy) roosting on it. A couple of them still need a little direction to stay on the roost and not on the edge of the board but I think they're getting it. For some reason the image uploader won't load "my computer" grrr.

Keep the pics coming.

Cheryl

(ps. Mittens is slowly on the mend. Poor Kitty. She was so sick and dehydrated. No more outdoor excursions for her. She's just too old for that. Bolstering her with my Chicken electrolytes and vitamins.)

Thanks, Cheryl! David keeps me asking when the girls will start earning their keep. LOL

The image loader was doing that to me the other day. Close out of BYC and your computer and then go back in. It worked for me.

I'm so glad Mittens is doing better. Poor girl! Chicken vitamins are a good thing! Keep me posted on Mittens, she a tough girl! Good for her!

I just put the girls back in their coop/run. I had them in the play pen a while today while we finished up deco on the coop. I put Pearl & Mildred (my two RIR's) in first. When I was getting Mable (Barred Rock) I showed her cut up grapes and she followed me like a dog to the coop. LOL My husband was laughing so hard. They are such great pets! I'm loving this.

Looks nice and I love all your signs. How do you get the chickens from the run into the tractor? Do you just pick them up and stick them under? I don't see any doors to the tractor
