At my wits end with this crop situation!

Update: I just wanted to let everyone know the outcome of my dear pullet, Diane's, crop situation. She unfortunately passed Saturday evening. It appeared like peaceful death thankfully. I wanted to thank each and every one of you for your help and I plan to purchase the necessary products for if anything like this ever happens again. I put the dead bird in the freezer and plan to cut her open today to see if I can determine what happened and I can post pictures afterwards if you all are curious. I also plan to edit my original post and include everything I've done and hopefully what the issue was after I open her up for any future chicken owners who need to find information. Thank you all for you support❤️.

R.I.P sweet gorgeous Diane, I'll miss you forever❤️
I am sorry that your little hen passed away:hugs

So sorry to hear that. It will be good to find out exactly what happened to her. You'll want to keep the carcass cool (in the fridge or a cooler with ice) but not frozen as that will damage tissues.

Thank you:). Hmm I just left it outside in our freezer, do you think it's still worth cutting her open after she's been thoroughly frozen out should I for-go the idea....?

You can still go ahead with it. I would think you'll still be able to see things like tumors.

Aw, MP, I'm sorry you lost her. You fought long and hard for her. A necropsy should help you a lot. For the type of necropsy you're doing I don't think freezing will hurt anything. But if you had wanted to send her to a state lab, freezing would have affected tissue on a molecular level, affecting what they could have determined from microscopic slides, I believe. I suspect you will find reproductive tumoors. Hopefully the Educators, @Eggcessive , @azygous, @coach723 and @Wyorp Rock will help walk you through the necropsy. Best wishes.

Thank you so much! Ah, that makes a lot of sense. Yes, any advice is welcome-I was just going to haphazardly cut into it and hope I'm doing it right lol. I'm very thankful I had byc to help me and take this entire thing as a learning experience🙏
