At what age can ducks live in an outdoor coop with chickens?

My pekin is about 4 weeks and my two little ones are more like 3 weeks. My father wants to get them out of the house as soon as possible. When will that be? Will they be abused by the chickens?

The chickens will most likely attack them and it could become fatal quick. Them going outside also depends on their age/feathering and what the weather is like in your area. Where are you located?

Can you set up an area inside the pen and coop where the chickens can’t get to them and offer a heat source? I would never put young ducklings out with adult chickens or ducks until old enough to keep out of their way and before they have had a chance to meet through fencing in a pen situation unless they duckling have protection they can be attacked.

I completely agree. I introduced my 3-week-olds to my adult ducks this weekend (supervised) and my drake immediately set out to kill them. I now am allowing them to see but not touch. I put their brooder outside with its heat source. They can see the ducklings and hear them, but they can't get in and interact with them. I think it helps.

I normally introduce them around 7-8 weeks to others. Depending on the weather more slowly early on with a fence between them. It also depends on the amount. A flock of 7 8-week old ducklings introducing to 2 adult ducks is easier then vica versa (because they are the bigger flock, allthough not fully adult yet). The bigger your flock the slower I would introduce, and the longer with a fence between them.
