My friend has some oegb chicks she hatched if one is a girl I will take it. But what age can I tell if it’s a boy or girl? Right now they are 4 days. ThanksšŸ™ƒ

I don't know the exact age, but generally unless they are sex-linked (Which OEGB are not to my knowledge), you can try posting photos at 6 weeks. Sometimes it can take up to 12 weeks to know for sure, but most show early signs if you know what to look for.

I do the "Line Theory". In the Line Theory, if the line goes to the eye, and no further, possibly thin, it's a cockerel. If the line goes to the eye and past, possibly thick, then it's a pullet. :)

This is just a theory, may not be 100% accurate. It works for me, and I learned it from my SD OEGBs.

They are Black breasted red, just so you know.

Also some are light brown in color and others are dark brown does that mean something? like boy or girl?

Females have darker striping with a richer red color, & dark eyeliner.

Males are more pale, less dark striping, eyeliner is occasionally dark, but often times lighter.
