At what age do Black Australorps begin to lay their first eggs???

Last year when my one Black Austrolorp started laying she was 28 weeks. Her eggs are beautiful-perfectly browned and large.

This is my 10 week old australorp, Lucy. Her combs and wattles are starting to come in already. Do you think she'll begin laying sooner than 26 weeks?

My two Australorps started laying at 22 weeks. They are the most consistent layers I have. One egg from each of them almost every day.

I have 12 Black Aussies and they are 19 weeks old today.....Got my first egg!!!!! I am so excited. My girls are posers when the camera comes out.

I have 3 that are going to be 16 weeks this week and one of them already has a bright comb and wattles...I'll have to post a picture of her when I get home. She's WAY ahead of the other 2 as far as that goes.

man I sure wish mine would do that with me. It's like I have abused them or something. Now the RIRs are a different story, they will come running and eat out of my hand and everything. The BA's will do it IF the RIRs do it first. I have petted them and tried everything I know to try. I THINK once I get rid of some of these cockerels and I have less of the BA's they will calm down some. I sure am hoping so anyway. I had sooooo many of them I think this was my problem.
