At what age do roosters start to crow?

Our 15 week old BR crowed for the first time Sunday morning. He and one of his brothers were gone that afternoon - we luckily found someone that actually WANTED 2 roos for something other than dinner! My daughter cried to see them go - one of them was her favorite, and the other was mine. When she realized that her baby wasn't going to be eaten, she insisted he (Stormy) go as the 2nd choice - she knows that the 3rd roo that we still have will probably not be as lucky.

Thank goodness for this question and answers. My 10 week old rooster started crowing, which really blew me away. Roosters I've had in the past didn't start crowing until much, much later.

Well, I had a real shocker this morning! I have my 4 week old silkies in the house. All of the sudden I heard someone start to (I thought) squawk, but what it really was was one of them trying to crow! It was pitiful, but he was pretty proud of himself anyway! I couldn't believe it! I know they say with silkies the only way to sex them is to wait until they crow or lay an egg, so now I just have to wait and see what the other 4 do!
