at what age does male peacock start mating/breeding?

Is there a Peafowl color chart.... like what they have for chickens to determine color/pattern you will end up with by breeding 2 others?

.......... If not you guys ought to get together and make one, so use slow learners can have an idea of what we are doing... hehe

I have a question if anyone can clarify.

I lost my male, so this makes me even more inquisitive than before. I have India blue females still, and I'm concerned about finding them a suitable male.

They need a suit er, of course.

How many years can I expect a male to be fertile, once he has matured?
Same for my females? I have only had one egg, but would love to learn a lot more, and with all the info out there on fowl, I don't find all I am looking for. May one of the more experienced BYCers on here have some experience that they will share with me?

He was very blue, and I could possibly get another male, but I am concernrd with how differences in age may addect the ability to hatch.

Differences in age are negligible for most peafowl that people keep. They can live for 20+ years! and is have personally owned breeding pairs that produced till their late teens.

Do you know if captivity Vs' Roaming will make them healthier, and live longer?
I do have the two females in a run that has a netting deal over it. We have had predators issues in the past, and I don't want anything to get hold of them. I make sure that they get greens, berries, and seeds, and nuts, since they can't go and look for them, but I wonder if I am not doing all I can to keep them healthy, and happy.

A Sumatra wondered in there, and the ladies chased the young man out, so they can be fierce if pushed, but I would not take my chances with coyote, or wild dogs.

My Male Peacock and Peahen were Together for about a year or 2, Eventually the peacock died, and they never hatched any eggs, But we got a new peacock that was about a year old and It mated with my 4 year old peahen, Right now they have 2 Healthy 2 month old peachicks, (we had 4 chicks but 1 died of natural causes and another drowned in the sheeps bucket of water)
