At What Age...?

Do Muscovy hens start to lay? Ive had my girls for a while but I'm not sure on their age except for the fact that they have just a small amount of caruncling on their eyes and I'm curious as to when I should be expecting eggs from them. Oh and how long should I wait to make sure that my drake has gotten them fertile?

My scovie girl started laying at 7 months. She was with a drake the whole time so I'm not sure about the fertile part, but when they start laying maybe wait a coupla days because the first few eggs are usually smaller and not fertile, probably not worth putting in a incubator then, if thats what you intend to do. good luck

This is gonna take FOREVER!!! Well phooey and I already have chick fever and everything. Darn it now I'm gonna have to works SUPER fast on finishing my roo pen so I can set up the breeding pen for my Silkies.

I really want my Scovies to lay already

... I wonder if my neighbors' Scovies are laying yet?

Aww ..man That mean I will have to wait until April/May before my Whites scovies do any laying...I am with you TWQ, I am wanting eggs now..

You'll know when the girls are ready because they will let the drakes breed with them. You'll get your first eggs about 2wks after they begin breeding.

Two of my 6mo olds just started laying 2 days ago. I am soooo not ready for this with our temps still sitting in the mid 20's for highs. UGH!!!!!!
