Atccking hawk just got attacked!

My old mean roo beat up a hawk after the hawk missed him and hit the ground right next to him. He beat that hawk silly, it only got away because my roo had to take a break.

I just posted my Wheaten Maran rooster(s) for sale, thinking if they're not sold in a week, they're going into the freezer, though I hate to do it since they're from good breeding stock and absolutely gorgeous - look just like your Hero-Roo, Murano Farms (he's a Blue? or Black Copper? Maran?, lovely boy!) Now I'm thinking - maybe I should hang on to one of them, anyway. They're only 5 months old and I haven't seen them do anything very protective yet, but maybe it's worth continuing to feed one of them, anyway...

Sure it can.

Only if I miss.

I feed feral cats, hens, have dogs, the possums hit the cat food, I do not want a skunk with his paw stuck in that trap waiting for me to remove him. I'd rather aim and fire, but I appreciate the suggestion. I just have a lot more than city critters to think of.

Sounds like you have already missed.

. Always something. The crows and stuff dont bother nothing here just kibble aliitle food now and then.We missing kitty today he hasn't been around since last night and he's a Morbid food hound. We Do have coyote here but, he has been acting a bit Frisky latley maybe prowling he's only about 5/6 month's old.Hope he is ok.If you have birds invest in trap and be prepared to zap the critters or know animal control will haul them off for you.Hawks Gaaaaaaaa.Good Luck on them and fox too.Fox are left to basicaly you being the predator and wait. Some people can trap them but... I prefer my 5 4 R.

Coby, Nugget's son, chased off an owl a few minutes ago that tried to grab Danni Quail out of the tree they sleep in! Danni has a broken leg now, but is still up in the tree with Coby. They are so cute together, a little Gambel's quail and a huge blue roo.

I technically live in city limits. I fire a rifle out here, I'd better be shooting coyote or snakes - or a human coyote. The neighbors wouldn't call the cops if I have a good reason (I just have to dispose of the body myself)

But the feral cats (now numbering 4, all fixed) hunt the rodents I don't have time to deal with, and keep snakes out of the unfenced portions of my yard. I use dog-proof rat bait stations, one in the shed, one in the pond area, for the fenced yard. I have a couple of really large dogs, but they sleep In at night.
The possums, I have accidentally live trapped when I was trapping ferals, if It's a hungry winter I'll thunk one on the head and cook it. the main fence needs a touch of repair today, but unless critters are coming in airborne or along the top, my hens are safe. And the skunks are why I keep the main fence in good repair. I've never seen a coon in my yard, a rottweiler and german sheperd/border collie mix are a heck of a coon deterrent.

Hawks, I watch out for. Run is roofed, when I see the hawks hunting the area, I pen the girls.
