All I can say is mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm good!!!! My cornish are 6 1/2 weeks now and a roo developed a leg problem yesterday. Dressed out 4lbs. It was tasty to say the least. I have 21 more cornish that will be ready soon. I also got 26 red broilers at the same time, they don't eat near as much and do alot more "grazing" on the grass. The funniest thing to see is the cornish eat watermellon

they remind me of pigs.. can't wait to brine a few up to throw in the smoker!!!

Awesome! I am raising layers but I am working up to meat birds. I keep telling myself "I think I can, I think I can..." I am a city girl so I have to get over the whole culling thing but I'm mentally preparing myself. I'm sure that once you raise your own meat you can't go back to the supermarket, am I right???

Chix4smokin -

Am I right? Do they taste way better than the supermarket? Is it worth the work and expense? I like the idea of raising my own meat. I buy a 4-H 1/2 pig every year and am trying to get some home grown beef locally too. My pig alway is WAY better than the store bought.

LOL We have layers and I have been preparing myself for a year now for processing meat animals and have even purchased some meat rabbits. I plan on finally getting meat chickens this summer. I was a total city girl and have been easing into the self sufficient lifestyle. Good Luck with your journey into homegrown meat!

Chix4smokin Congrats!!! I'm sure it was delicious.

this was my first home grown.. I've raised my own beef for 20 years and would compare the taste the same way!!!! I have done pigs also but quit about 5 years ago , but still the same taste difference
