I heard somebody got ran off for being atheist already. I don't remember who it was though
I'm not aware of that. We had a Buddhist or some such for a while. She was sweet but left after a while. We couldn't convince her that God loved her. She had been abused and was very wounded.

I relate spiritually to the things that fascinated me as a kid. The night sky. The weather. Growing plants. New life. People who made things or control their own actions well. Climbing high. Running water. Fire. A well told story. Live music. Speed.

How the universe started isn't important to me. It was a one time event and even if it needs to happen again it's not my job. I don't believe in an afterlife that's a continuation for any of us, but am open to the possibility of something transformative or assimilative. I don't think morality is a condition of anything spiritual any more than it is for happiness, parenthood, or social status.

I know this is an atheist thread but can I say, it's wonderful how much we have in common! These are things I also do to help me feel spiritual. I have always felt very close to God in nature.
Same! I’ve always felt way closer in nature or even music than I have in an actual church or anything haha and tbh most of the churches I’ve been to have bored me to death :lau  but when I’m driving through the mountains and looking at the views or at a Christian music festival or something? It’s overwhelming. :lau :love but given what thread this is, I’ll zip it on that hahah but I feel like we’re all a lot more similar than people think.

Like even if you’re not religious per se, or if you are but believe a different one, I feel like everyone can appreciate mountains or music hahah it’s universal. And I love what you said after this one about learning from different beliefs and stuff. That is so true and I wish more people would do that!

So many people just shut down or attack which doesn’t help anyone. So I think it’s cool that we can all learn from each other. I think I’ve seen some of you guys over there learning too which is really neat. :love

Anyway, carry on! Haha trying to catch up.

I also think a lot, and I feel it would be disrespectful to ask in a christian thread.. if there are SO many different religions, that all think they are correct, who's really correct?

and because I'm a science is the answer person, if you really think hard about something (ex. god talking to you) your brain will make it happen. So how do you know somebody is really talking to you, and its not just a manisfestation? Have you ever seen god?
IMO if there is a God, they are very likely different from how they are described by any particular religion. Also, the notion of a "personal god" has always seemed somewhat narcissistic to me, especially considering how vast the universe is. Spinoza FTW!

I've had so many experiences like @arwoon's! I want a bumper sticker that reads, I don't BELIEVE in miracles, I DEPEND on them!

I could write a book, honestly. So many times I've lost something important, hunt everywhere, can't find it. Pray about it and BAM! Either I suddenly know where it is or, more often, my hand of its own volition reaches out and picks something up and there it is! Sometimes I look again in a place I've already looked and it's there! It slmost doesn't even surprise me any more. Almost!

Water calms me. I was raised at the lake basically.. July baby! My first weekend alive I was at the lake.. the lake, the water, its my happy place.
For me it was the mountains. Colorado mountains. Later, the desert, northern New Mexico. But ... this world is not my home. I can find peace, happiness anywhere.
