Atheist/non-religious thread

K. So, I grew up in a Christian Science church. My mom was diagnosed with cancer and given a 50/50 chance while pregnant with me. She is fine after 50 something years :). My dad was a bible thumping in your face, his way was gods way "BAC" and also a womanizing alcoholic (I do see the repeating theme all too often). As a teen I was off and running but remember some of the lessons of my youth, mainly bible stories. I do not doubt the bible, I think it a miracle. I don't doubt Buddha, or Gandhi or tribal spirituality. Any body who believes in a power greater than themselves- as they are not god or the high authority- is a-ok in my book! Be it a tree, a bug or the heavens.
I have studied with JW, Mormons, Baptists, Buddhists... humankind and naturekind. I feel closest to our creator when surrounded by his true miracles in nature, when I am in service to others (not preaching but giving or doing- love is an action word and not just something that you say). The more I give, the more whole I become. Funny how that works. I am real sure they teach that in most all religions but few actually adhere to it. All I see on mainstream CBTV is plastic surgery, bragging and begging from super rich off of others folks. Where is the god in that and who are the fools who think that giving to the guy who does not... does anybody any good?
Full disclosure- I am a straight while female who's daughter is married to a theologian/minister who wears his faith like a loose shirt and is a wonderful guy who I am very proud to call son.

"Atheism, in the broadest sense, is an absence of belief in the existence of deities"

Note*** did not say reality?

Agnostic- "a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (such as God) is unknown and probably unknowable...."

Oh, to be so humble, the beautiful dignity and humility in true grace. As opposed to humiliation... :hmm

May I remind you also that you are on a chicken site...? The lack of authority and condescending tone has escaped no one. Some people wear their faith like a loose shirt and rely on the laws of attraction. I think acting above or holier is what drives people away, so maybe tend to your garden.

"For with the same judgment you pronounce, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

King James Bible
"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

Since it is you on the atheist/non-religious thread, I am guessing you are not interested in staying in your lane- more poking or trying to convince others of your passion. Your unsolicited advice- an insult, is missing the whole point of this tread. This thread is a safe place for others to have their own passions apart from yours. It is not for you to asses or find what is lost, nothing is lost. No one here is lacking intellect or passion either so if you chose to engage- remember your lane and wear it like a loose shirt. Maybe not barfing your beliefs but try listening? :idunno
Excuse me? I came on this thread with a question (well five actually)! And I answered the questions that were asked of me! I didn't want to get technical in the first place! I made it clear in my first post. I just needed help with my assignment, that's all!

I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my words, that WAS NOT MY INTENTION! I absolutely was not trying to be condescending, and I'm sorry if you took it that way.

Agnostics are clinging to the idea that either they "don't know anything", or they "can't know anything". By clinging to "I can't know anything" they're clinging to their ignorance, refusing to be educated, and calling that truth (which totally defeats the argument because, how do you know you can't know anything?). Or they're clinging to the idea that "I don't know anything" how do you know that you don't know anything!?!?

Atheist aren't open minded unless they're not atheists, e.g. "I'm an atheist because I believe there is no god. We all just popped out of nothing and we exist for nothing and we will die for nothing." Where is your proof that god doesn't exist? Can you prove that we popped out of nothing?
We can prove that we evolved through millions of years?

This all over again:

Being I am not the only one responding in this way maybe you need to look inward

Well educated christians have proof, which in turn makes it so that they can be confronted with questions and consider these things (be open minded) and reply with solid evidence.
🙄🤪🥴 really?

I just noticed this thread pop-up and would like to contribute, but I am sorry I don’t feel like reading 115 pages of previous posts. Having friendly discussions about atheism does interest me. I feel like I’ve only recently “come out of the closet” as an atheist in the last few years. I would be willing to discuss my conversion if that is of interest to people. Ultimately at this point, I believe that every specific religious or supernatural belief can objectively disproven through critical analysis, therefore the only conclusion is they are all wrong. Most people who are religious would agree with this for every religion but their own. I just take it one step further. I am not an anti-theist, nor do I “believe” that there is no god, I just don’t believe in any god(s) that have been presented to me.

Where is your proof there is some sort of God who created us instead?
