Hatching
We recently bought our dream farm and with our purchase we acquired 8 hens and one rooster. The hens are great and we enjoy them a lot. The whole bunch are rhode island reds. The rooster however from day one has charged, flown at us, and chased us down. We have tried the squirt gun to the face and that worked for awhile but yesterday he charged me even while getting squirted in the face. I was forced to jump in my vehicle to get away and he then proceeded to attack my car door! I like that he protects my flock and I have no doubt he would fight to the death for his hens. However Is there anything that can be done to halt and/or lessen his aggression towards us? I understand we are a new asset to the farm and it has probably shaken up his world a bit but its been ample time for him to adjust now. If there is no solution I fear he may need to be rehomed as I have a small child who has been attacked once already. Plus anytime we leave the house we have to be armed with a squirt gun or other item to defend ourselves with and I do not want to live like this forever. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. : )
