My dear, sweet, Bantam Dominique was attacked by something yesterday that didn't finish the job. She came hobbling out of the woods when I called her yesterday evening, limping and with her tail tweaked to one side. She's not used to being handled but the brief view I managed to get of her injury showed a small-ish (maybe half inch diameter?) wound. I couldn't tell if it was a puncture or an abrasion. Both wings and legs work, despite the limp. She's clearly sore but still has a healthy appetite and normal thirst. She's always so sweet and sane...
Considering her condition, do I catch her and try to treat this wound with something or is self healing a probable outcome? If I should treat it, with what? I'm usually a wait-and-see sort of pet owner but I know that's not always advisable with open wounds (although covered by her wing). I've also been worried about overly stressing her out since, as I mentioned, she's not keen on handling.
Thank you chicken masters!!!
