ATTN: American Pit Bull owners.

Glowworm,

I saw the list on our local news website, but here it is. I'm assuming aggressive behavior also means barking or threatening. I spoke with the stable owner yesterday (as four children were petting Anvil). She (and my mother) thought that small dogs tend not to get the reputation of larger dogs simply because if they nip, it is not as serious and they can be physically overpowered by a human whereas a rott or a dobie that nips would be destroyed.

Try this, http://www.wnem.com/slideshows/index.html
or google the phrase of the American Animal Behavior, etc... that conducted the survey

Sorry this wasn't more "scientific"

Sorry I can't post a pix of Miss Mia, She is 7 years old and the biggest chicken you ever saw, my roo runs her in the house almost everytime she goes outside.Pitts need LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of love and they repay you with LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of love. My DH is almost 72 and Miss Mia goes outside with him every time he does. She lays in the back of the P/U and watches him, if he gets overheated or anything that he has to sit down quickly she barks and is right there to take care of him. I also have a yorkie,I know, strange bedfellows but I love them both dearly, and you can check any post I have put on here about pitts and I say the say thing IT'S THE OWNERS NOT THE DOG. love my pitt. marrie

Therein lies the problem with many who own dogs large and small. Don't know how to handle them, and don't bother training them. ANYONE can hold any large breed under control if they know how.

I don't have a pit, just a Boston Terrier that thinks she's as big as a pit. I just had to tell you all what beautiful dogs you have. I love the short haired breeds - they show so much expression in their faces!

This is my dog. I think he's a boxer/pit mix. He loves people. I adopted him from a shelter when he was 10 wks old. I knew he was mine when he ran up to me and gave me a kiss on my cheek, and then ran back away. We go to training classes, herding classes, dog play dates, and he goes to dog daycare about once a week. He ignore my chickens unless they're pecking at one of his bones, and then he'll bark at them.

Okay, I have a question for all you Pit owners/lovers. Its kinda wacky, but I heard this from a great friend & pitbull lover. Pitbull's feet smell like FRITOES chips. They really do!

Has anyone else smelled their dog's feet?
