ATTN: American Pit Bull owners.

Henrysue- those are the cutest pics EVER!! I love that one with the chicken. Poor, poor doggy!

My dog Lily is a brindle boxer mix. She kinda looks like a pit with that coloring. I never 'fess up that she's not as those that ask are always folks I'd rather not have coming around anyway!

We used to go to the dog park before we moved. In all the months we were there, they had only two dog fights break out. Both were instigated by un-neutered male rottweillers. Stupid owners had ignored all the signs banning uncut males and had strutted into the park with these enormous untrained dogs. Idiots. One time the male dog picked out the weakest dog in the park (a one-eyed cocker spaniel) and gave chase. The other time two uncut males got into it. It took most of the humans in the park to gain control of the situation. The pit bulls were cowering at their owners' feet, like most of the other dogs. I found that the park pits were sweet and loving dogs. They behaved like all the other goofy mutts running around. Clearly they were loved and socialized and trained.

My big issue is with people that don't spay or neuter. Neuter especially. 99% of us don't need an un-fixed dog. With these rottweillers it was purely an ego thing for the owner. Sadly, it was the dogs that were going to pay for it. They were eventually banned from the park and who knows what else. Arggg!!

I'll stop before I go off on a ranting tangent. Suffice it to say that there are many, many people that don't deserve to own dogs!

Good luck on your puppy quest. I'm impressed that you are doing research ahead of time and preparing as much as you can. You will be a good dog owner!

[quote/OMFG!!!! Halo has FRITO FEET!!!!!!! My DH is gonna DIE!!! He loves Fritos! Hahaha That is TOOO funny! I was very skeptical... but it's TRUE! Do all dog's feet smell like that? Hmmm..... I don't think I will test it out... but I do wonder quote]

LOL-- I have smelled ALL our dog's feet! Sierra is the only one that has the Fritoes smell.

I have a very gentle 10 month old pit bull to give away and her name is Sadie. She has never harmed a human and is around chickens, dogs, and tends to like the chase of a cat but never harmed one. She is brindle and white and just beautiful. But..we have several dogs and cats and she needs her own people who have time to enjoy her. She even enjoys swimming.
Drawback is I am in Oregon..
Blessings,
Pauline

well I haven't read all the posts yet , but just wanted to tell you. My grown nephew's friend couldn't have a dog in the new apartment he was moving to.
So he gave his pitbull to my nephew. First time I met her she practically jumped in my lap and s'jarted licking my face. Good thing I don't mind doggie kisses. She's a full blooded pit bull. It's no different than raising any warrior breed. That's what Ceazar Milan the dog whisperer calls them. You should watch his show he has alot of pit bulls in his pack.

P.S. loving all the pics of the doggies

We have an adopted 3 year old pit bull. She's great with our Aussie and she's gentle. She's always trying to climb up in your lap and she loves food. She's a good barker when it comes to something strange, someone pullling into the driveway, etc. I was actually surprised that she is really a big coward and has very little to no aggression. Her only real problem is she poops on the floor when she's upset, so we crate her when we are not around to let her out, but she likes her crate.
