Even if it is not, I think the disadvantages of having it dealt with now would outweigh any small advantage of waiting a couple weeks (even if it's a tooth abscess, in my experience they usually progress pretty slowly, and dealing with them is one of the more skilled-work tasks in the veterinary universe so you would really want a vet who was GOOD at such things AND with whom you get along well, IMO).

If it were me I would have no hesitation about waiting til my regular vet was back in town and then calling and seeing if he'd look at it (assuming it is even still there, then
