August 2021 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
My first three Rouen eggs are in lockdown. I couldn't resist putting the wyze cam in there, too.

Did a quick candling of Lucky the cracked egg and they're still growing! They have an eyespot now and was wiggling around for me. Yay!

Oooh I like the idea of the cam! That would save a million trips to the incubator :D
Go Lucky!

Coturnix are done. I can't believe only 4 chicks out of 4 dozen eggs.
three more king quails hatched which brings the total to 16, I'll give the other 6 eggs some time just in case. Waiting on the Leghorns to pip now and still a while for the ducks
Was the 4 dozen fertile

Well I paid for fertilized eggs :idunno
I put 45 in (3 were broken) and out of that 16 started to develop. cracked the clears to make sure. out of that 16 4 hatched and one quit at lockdown, the others quit mostly early on. I had purchased 4 dozen from the same breeder in the past and had 22 develop and 18 hatch so I think it's just bad luck with development and incubator issues this time. I'm happy I got 4 but at almost $24 a chick I better have a female

Yes God willing one a female. I got quail eggs in too. Threw out 3 clears this morning. 12 arrived in post yesterday but 5 was cracked. This is my first ever incubating eggs. Idk if any will hatch I'm. Constantly messing with temperature lol
Quail eggs on right are due on Sunday possibly. Idk Friday be 2 weeks

I put the eggs in lockdown late last night, and it's a good thing I did because I have an external pip already! My mom side can't help but be worried about them being too early. But I candled and they're alive and wiggling. So hopefully things go ok.

Did you let them know how many were infertile? They may like to know and hopefully would send you some replacements.
I had a really bad run with shipped eggs with only 1 chick for every dozen incubated so i stopped and started to drive to get them. My hatch rates went up to 95%. I said i would never incubate shipped eggs again but we are in lockdown again and i found some beautiful leghorns in tasmania so i am going to try one more time!!!

Yep, I always give feedback on how I receive the eggs and follow ups of the hatch regardless of the outcome, sadly most of the time I get no response back when it doesn't go perfectly. Thankfully I found a closer breeder with the quail colours I have been after so I can get eggs or even chicks from him by car, plus my own should start laying soon so I can start hatching those.
