*** AUGUST HATCH-A-LONG come join in ***

All right! I put in my order for a dozen BCM eggs, and won my first auction on BYC for 12+ silkie eggs. I may have put in an order for 8 more peafowl eggs........ and I'm going to tell myself that I did that IN CASE one of these babies croaks or in case they are both male. Also can't hurt to have an unrelated pair!

So those should get in this week and get popped into the incubator!!! I'm super excited for this month, it may be my last for a while unless we find something amazing down in Indiana during the bird swap.

Okay yaw! First time incubating, have no idea what I'm doing, not sure about fertilization of my chicks eggs & I'm worried sick.

I bought the basic LG a few hours ago, husband is reading instructions & I'm trying to find out if i "have too" buy the egg turner, if I can turn them myself, how to do this without a fan & so on here on BYC.

I gathered 4 eggs today from my "Dixie Rainbows" and will gather again for the next 2 days. I'm going to set my eggs on July 20th ... count me in for August.

Praying !!!!

I just put 14 Serama eggs In the Incubator today and 8 buff Silkie eggs yesterday. Is there anything I should know about Serama eggs? First time, I can't wait! I hope they will hatch.

I've got 2 broodies so I ordered some lavender orp eggs for them to split. I ordered 6 eggs but am hoping I get a couple extra because they are being shipped and I only ever get a 50% hatch from shipped eggs. But a broody is the best incubator so maybe I will get a better rate this time. My broodies are a black sex link and a buff orp.

i set 10 jersey giant eggs on thursday and 23 eggs ( 12 ee's, 5glw. 6 wheaten marans) on friday so i'm in for the august hatch! hoping this hatch is better than my last attempt where i had none hatch

. i have rebuilt the incubator and put in 3 thermometers and hygrometers.

Hatching in August? Guess I'll join. I started in January, & am still in full swing.

WHEW, just checked my hatch records, 846 hatched so far this year. Believe it or not, I'm low on birds too. I'm down to about 85 birds. I usually have well over 100.

Count me in! I set 16 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana shipped eggs from Pips&Peeps on July 16th~ due August 5th. I'm using a Genesis 1588 with auto egg turner, going with the dry hatch method and checking the humidity with the Exo Terra reptile hygrometer that has been extremely accurate! Not sure how these eggs will do since they were shipped during hot weather? But they were very fresh, 2,3,4 days old and only 5 had loose air cells!! The two day old eggs looked just like my own unshipped eggs when candled, so I am hopeful. Good Luck Everybody!

If I were you.... I would buy the turner. Not having to open the incubator several times a day and knowing the turner still turns overnight is priceless. Plus it will turn them evenly. I tried hand turning for like a day before I decided I would never do it again.... ever.

Also, I'm going to be adding in golden lakenvelders to my hatch! huzzah. I was eyeballing them on the auction... and then someone posted them to the egg chain and I was sold!
