August Hatch-A-Long

Pics
All caught up here... I got distracted and forgot to follow along.

I’m hatching out 60 eggs for August 17ish. 24 for another chicken person whose flock was decimated by raccoons and the rest for us... I’ve got a dozen from the Barnvelder Boy I sold to a different Chicken keeper over his ISA and Hy-line layers. I’ve got a dozen from “Sammy” my CCLxLH boy over two Hy-Line red layers. The last Dozen are the same as my Last Hatch, my Olive Egger Boy “Chickie Hawk” (Wheaten Ameraucana x Marans) over some HyLines and a Columbian Rock.

The eggs for the other guy are Barnvelder crosses over Speckled Sussex, Chantelacer, ameraucanas, and some barnvelderxameraucana crosses, and a couple HyLines.

I’m planning on rotating the eggs throughout the hatch a little because I think I’ve got some cool spots I didn’t place any eggs in, and a hot spot directly under the heater. I can’t seem to upload pictures right now (buggy internet connection) but I’m candling tonight and should have some up soon!
Exciting!!!! Glad you’re back!

Just doing my chores today and got this photo of my Easter hatch a long baby, this Opal legbar. She is my FAVORITE young pullet I’ve ever had! :love

I love her!!!! :love:love:love
Somehow in the process of looking for Polish hatching eggs I'm now also discussing Cuckoo Bluebars which look like Legbars to me with blue barring...how does this always happen to me? I have zero will power when it comes to hatching eggs! :lau

Day before hatch day for the “rare” eggs, and the one Catdance Silkie egg that made it this far.

I am second guessing my hatching choice—I put them upright in egg cartons because the air cells were still a mess. I’m teetering between “Whatever will be will be”, and crap, I’d better open the ‘bator and lay those puppies down. :barnie In the end, I don’t know that one is better than the other. I might need talked off the proverbial edge. :old

Unless you know for sure that things need to be changed then I suggest keeping it as you set it up. good luck.

My August hatch are just Naked Necks (1/4 Red Ranger) and Seramas. I had others but due to mistakes they were not fertile.
The eggs i am saving for September are various sex links from my Barnyard Mix Sex Link flock. Production Red Rooster with barred and Columbian Hens. Its a work in progress eventually I want fully barred Mutts, Columbia patterned Mutts with a Red Mutt Rooster. I am saving eggs from my production Leghorn flock, the Rooster is a California Grey or Production Black and the females are Production Blacks or California Grey and white leghorns. Also saving Seramas, Naked Necks, and Ayam Cemani. Not sure if I will be hatching all of those or just some of them. It depends on what I feel I could use more of or sell easily.
