August Hatch-A-Long!

Set 6 mixed Wyandotte eggs....2 never did anything the other 4 going strong. This is my first hatch and I know why they get the saying fussing like a mother hen. On day 20 have 3 chirping in their shells and one tiny crack just appeared.....so excited !!

Is it too much to ask the little nuggets to give me a sign??? I'm so used to being on a schedule to turning them I'm having withdrawals of that daily interaction.

I was reading the when there is any gelatinous substance left in the shell after the babies hatch it's because they incubated at too high a humidity....just thought I'd pass that on

That is very interesting. Where did you find that information? Sounds like something I might like to read too.

right? but when you candled yesterday all looked good? so by tomorrow you'll probably get some action...were these guys shipped eggs?
All were active... very active. These guys were not shipped. I have a test to take and I can't tear myself away from their side.

This is so doggone cute!! We had a Doberman that would nurse kittens. They're such good dogs!
That is amazing! Makes me love dobermans even more!!! I don't think I could ever have another breed. Best dogs ever!
Oh my goodness!!! I just found a clutch of 16 eggs at my mom's house!!! Heard the hen singing her egg song and went to find her. Once she was done she got right up and went away. I got down and felt that most of the eggs are cool to the touch, except the one she just laid. Is it worth putting them in the bator? There's eggs from three different hens in there. None of them are broody. We see them all throughout the day.
Eggs are good stored 7-10 days but I'm not sure if the yolk would be ok turning in the incubator
this is peaches she, or he maybe, is a Japanese bantam 5 hatched from the batch and were the size of my thumb or a tiny bit bigger....this one is smaller than the others
What did you use to bandage the foot & why?

Shhhhhhhhhh dont tell anyone but, I had a single chick hatched last year and I carried her in my bra, nestled down right in the center...... wrapped gently in a soft towel of course so I didnt get pooped on. To this day this hen follows me everywhere. Hubby says that is when I went off the deep end....lol

That's Awesome!
