August Hatch-A-Long!

Here they are!!!! Our 7 little SFH! We will be keeping 2-3, the others are going to someone who lost several of his SFHs in the flash floods earlier this month. They are gorgeous, but very loud and pretty mobile for being so new to the world, hence the laundry basket pic, lol. It was the only way to keep them still at all!

Today is lockdown for the 13 my 2 silkies are on.... My first to try with them..... crossing my fingers all goes well. I have not intervened AT ALL with their hatch. Should I move them off their nesting box? It's already on the ground but the chicks will have about a 2 in drop when they get out the nest.

I had two pips when I went to the feedstore. I had two chicks and two new pips when I cam home.

The chicks appear healthy but one has a curled foot. I'm going to try the what I saw someone else do a few days ago. But should I leave it in the incubator with so many eggs still waiting to hatch or take it out to fix the foot right away? Will the foot still be pliable for a day or better to do this right away?
I don't know what to tell you, except that if it were me...I would pump up the humidity, then quickly grab that chick and fix its foot. Then if humidity is still up there I would quickly put it back. But that is just what "I" would do.

.It is a pretty easy fix .Do you know how to do it.
It will be fine if you wait a day or so...if you do decide to pull it out ,this is what I learned to do.
Take the incubator into the bathroom, run the hot water in the shower until the room is steamy, then pluck it out..........
It is really up to you but for heaven sake, don't open the incubator if there is a pip..............
Good Luck.......and again........it is an easy fix and will be fine after you boot it.................Good Luck with your hatch..................

it sounds fine to leave them mama won't take them out for at least a day...mine get in and out of the nursery which is a customized dog house with no trouble by the time the mama is ready for them to go out.....she'll keep them close!
