August Hatch-A-Long!

Day 14 is tomorrow, but I always seem to fill up my Sundays, so I candled today. I have 11 whites, 5 partridge, 3 porcelain, and 2 paints going to lockdown in 5 days. All eggs have good chick movement. Air cells are perfect! Humidity inside is a steady 29% with NO WATER. Humidity in room stays a steady 47%(basement). I will add water on day 19 and move these eggs to the hatching drawer in egg cartons to hatch. Last hatch I got 11 of 12 to hatch on shipped eggs. I hope this hatch is as good. If it is I may go into the incubator making business.....lol

The eggs in front and to the right with only 1 air cell marked are my chocolates. Oh yeah, these are Silkies!

Hi I do the same. really has helped having it setup this way I know when they go in the hatcher.....gives me time to sterilize.................

Not a word from El. Funny that you ask too, I just checked his profile tonight, 3 weeks 6 days since last login. I wonder what happened to him??????

Pulling the 7 day old eggs outta the bator tonight... they're all clears. I went back and looked at my previous hatch and there was much more going on in those dark eggs than it was in these white eggs. Guess Beyonce shagged with a man too long ago *sigh*. Good news is, a friend of mine gave me a dozen of her suppose to be fertile eggs so those are going into the bator! Dont know what they are so this will be fun!

Sorry about the clears, but yay for the new ones 20 of mine are barnyard mixes from my free range flock. I am interested to see how they turn out - and see if I can tell which ones are EEs since on of my males is a Lav Ameraucana. Anything I don't think will give me blue eggs is headed ro my best friend's house to replace her flock that was eaten by assorted predators prior to building the new Fort Knox coop. Makes up for all the years she was giving me free eggs

Took out a clear egg last night, still got five little chicks developing! I was surprised to see the brown cracked one covered in wax had veining. Seven and a half days to go I think for the white ones, thirteen for the two brown ones maybe, not sure off the top of my head.

Well, you can expect me to join the next four-five hatch-a-longs, I've got five people who want to buy chickens off me so far, and to make it more difficult, one wants six hens. Of course, my more favourite chicks I'll want to keep for myself! XD

my 7 eggs which are due next sunday are going into lockdown thursday lockdown came so slowly ugggh it still hasnt come so its comming very slowely

I have just had to toss 7 of my 10 eggs. 6 were infertile and one had a blood ring and had died. it smelt terrible. the 3 that r left r going strong and r due on the 18th august. fingers crossed they make it. x

My first 20 go into lockdown the same day - I feel exactly the same - watching the clock, LOL!

I have been having trouble with my humidity. Before I set the eggs I tested it out for 24 hours and everything was stable. I set the eggs in, humidity troubles all over again. As soon as I add water the humidity swings to 60% then a couple hours later 30%... ughhhh need to figure something out. I probably killed all of my eggs, which sucks because I want some leghorn x chicks.
